Katherine and Zach were able to take advantage of so many of the wonderful spots Portland has to offer for their wedding day! With the ceremony at Mayo Street Arts, wedding party photos at the Eastern Promenade, and the reception at the Clarion Hotel, they got a wide range of scenery for their backdrops. Even with the different places we all traveled around to, they planned ahead with a solid timeline, and were on time for each part (awesome job, everyone!). We even were on time for gathering everyone for the family photos.
One of the things I love most about weddings are all of the little stories that are told on the day that make up the big one. The wedding party huddling together to stay warm before pictures because none of the ladies had a jacket. Mom helping her daughter place the veil on her head while she is holding back tears. That crazy photographer standing on a chair or laying on the ground to get the shot. Traditions, memories shared, and the making of new memories. That's what these days are all about. One story in particular that sticks out in my mind about Zach & Katie's day was when her dad, Glen, pulled me aside and had a special request. He said he and the uncles all had a tradition that they had started at family weddings. They all would get in line and pose with their hands extended out toward the camera and smile. He said it may seem a little silly, but it was an important tradition of the family. I said it wasn't silly at all and I was glad to do it. I made a special edit of one of the shots which makes them look like a painting. I hope it makes a good addition to their collection of tradition images that they can enjoy for years to come!
